View propertyGeorge Eliot country
Mary Ann Evans, better known as George Eliot, was born in 1819 on the Arbury Estate just outside Nuneaton and set Scenes of Clerical Life here. A statue of her stands in the town centre and the museum in Riversley Park tells her story; her family home, Griff House, is now a hotel and restaurant on the A444.
The volunteer-run Abbey Theatre seats 250 for touring plays, opera, ballet, musicals and pantomime. The Nuneaton Community Carnival has filled the streets since October 1930, when it began as a fundraiser for the old general hospital.
Sports clubs bring groups too: Nuneaton RFC, the Nuns, play in National 3 Midlands, with Nuneaton Old Edwardians and Manor Park the town's other rugby union clubs.
Humber Hub takes ten, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House take nine apiece next door to each other and Sullivan Heights takes six. The houses take no parties or events and no smoking indoors.
