King John granted Lutterworth its market charter in 1214. The Ram Inn on the corner of George Street and Leicester Road became the Cavalier in the early 1970s, a name linked by legend to royalist soldiers who hid in the town after Naseby in 1645.
The thatched Shambles, once an abattoir and butcher's shop, has been a pub again since 1982. Engineering fans come for Whittle's story and the Gloster replica south of the town; Stanford Hall nearby hosts weddings and family celebrations.
In Coventry, the Transport Museum shows Thrust2 and ThrustSSC, the British jet cars that took the land speed record in 1983 and 1997.
Humber Hub takes ten, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House nine apiece and Sullivan Heights six. The houses take no parties or events and no smoking indoors.
