Geoffrey de Clinton began Kenilworth Castle in 1122. In 1266 it held out against Prince Edward's army for six months, thought to be the longest siege of the English Middle Ages. In 1575 Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, entertained Elizabeth I there with pageants and fireworks said to cost some £1,000 a day.
The Two Castles Run, between Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle each June, began as a fun run in 1983; in 2012 all 4,000 places went within 25 hours. The town has two amateur theatres, the 156-seat Talisman and the 119-seat Priory in a converted chapel of 1816.
Humber Hub takes ten, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House nine apiece and Sullivan Heights six, so a running club or a reunion can stay across one or two houses with a kitchen each.
