Gaydon is where JLR designs and engineers its cars. The company calls it its principal design and engineering centre: around 4 million square metres, close to 480 football pitches, with a research and development centre, test tracks, a virtual-reality suite and climatic wind tunnels.
JLR says it has put almost £500 million into the site in recent years. The ground was once RAF Gaydon. The British Motor Museum stands beside it and Aston Martin's headquarters and main plant lie just to the north.
