Bell Green is a mainly residential area in the north-east of Coventry, about two and a half miles from the city centre. Its shopping centre, Riley Square, was built between 1957 and 1965 and is surrounded by flats, with Bell Green health centre just outside it.

The public library that stood in Riley Square has moved to the Park Edge Community Hub. Dewis House, a 17-storey block of 94 flats, stands about 51 metres tall.

Wood End and Manor House are neighbouring districts. University Hospital Coventry is about 2 miles by road from the house, Sullivan Heights, which makes Bell Green a practical base for hospital staff and visiting families.

University Hospital Coventry, in Walsgrave on Sowe, opened in July 2006 with a large accident and emergency department and had 1,064 beds in 2020.

The hospital became one of four trauma units in the West Midlands in March 2012 and has bus services to Nuneaton, Bedworth and Rugby. The first line of the planned Coventry Very Light Rail system is proposed to run from the hospital to Coventry station.

The hospital is run by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

Riley Square was built by the City Architect's Department. The hospital stands on Clifford Bridge Road in Walsgrave on Sowe.
