The pumping station on London Road in Whitley was built in 1893. It and its lodge are derelict and the Coventry Society keeps them on its list of buildings at risk.
Homes England bought the site in 2018, saying it wanted to deliver homes and keep the Victorian legacy. The permission now in place allows up to 195 new homes, a house made from the lodge and four flats inside the pump house.
Seven applications to sign off conditions reached the council's register between August 2025 and May 2026. One of them was approved in July 2026.
