From Jaguar plant to press shop

Castle Bromwich has been Jaguar's manufacturing home since 1977, in JLR's own words, on a 112-acre site in east Birmingham. The works first built Spitfires and Lancasters in the Second World War, long before Jaguar took it on.

The last Jaguar cars made there, the XE, XF and F-Type, came off the line in June 2024. JLR said its UK factories were being reconfigured for electric models and that the Castle Bromwich stampings operation would grow to supply body panels for all its brands.

That press shop is now part of JLR's daily output. When production resumed in October 2025, stamping teams at Castle Bromwich went back in the first phase, alongside Halewood and Solihull.

Re-equipping a plant brings press installers, electricians, automation engineers and supplier technicians, often for weeks at a time. They need somewhere to sleep, cook and park.

The Merry Hill Lounge, our house in Brierley Hill, is about 18 miles by road from the plant. Sullivan Heights, the house on the north side of Coventry, is about 19 miles by road from it.
