3M came to Atherstone in 1964, TNT in 1987 and Aldi in the 1990s, each with head offices or national distribution centres. The BHS warehouse closed in August 2016 after 40 years and now houses a Royal Mail regional sorting office.
The A5, the old Watling Street, has bypassed the centre on a dual carriageway since 1963 and the town is close to the M42.
The Coventry Canal climbs through the town in a flight of eleven locks and the West Coast Main Line calls at the station of 1847, so canal and rail crews work here too.
Our nearest house to Atherstone is Sullivan Heights, about 14 miles by road, with Stoke Lodge and Stoke House sleeping nine each for a bigger crew.
