View the houseWordsley is a suburban village in the Dudley borough, north of the River Stour, with Kingswinford to the north, Brierley Hill to the east, Stourbridge to the south and open Staffordshire countryside to the west.
There were glassworks in Wordsley from 1776 until 1930, the famous replica of the Roman Portland Vase was cut here and the Red House Glassworks survives and has been restored. Holy Trinity Church was consecrated in 1831, the A491 passes through and the Stourbridge Canal descends here in a flight of locks.
Wordsley Hospital closed in 2005. The village's post town is Stourbridge and its ward had 12,582 residents at the 2011 census.
The Red House Cone on the Stourbridge Canal at Wordsley is thought to be the only complete glass cone of its kind still standing. Wordsley is counted among the villages and suburbs of Stourbridge.
