Staying in Stoke

Stoke is a residential part of Coventry east of the city centre, covered by the city council wards of Upper Stoke and Lower Stoke. Coventry University's campus and Far Gosford Street sit in Lower Stoke on the city-centre side. Stoke Aldermoor lies to the south.

Both of our Coventry houses are here. Humber Hub, in Lower Stoke south-east of the city centre, has four bedrooms with four en-suite bathrooms and sleeps up to 10. Sullivan Heights, in Upper Stoke north-east of the centre, has three bedrooms and sleeps up to six.

Stoke Aldermoor, to the south, was home to the Rootes No 1 Shadow Factory during the Second World War. Both houses have a private garden and 500 Mb broadband. Electricity, gas, water, Wi-Fi and council tax are included in the price.

Coventry University has a 33-acre campus in the city centre. It gained university status in 1992 and traces its origins to the Coventry School of Design, founded in 1843.

The university's centrepiece, The Hub, opened in August 2011 and the £20 million Frederick Lanchester Library opened in 2000. It had 29,505 students in 2024/25.

Far Gosford Street, on the edge of the city centre just beyond the ring road, was the medieval route out of Coventry towards Leicester and London. Its name comes from a goose ford over the River Sherbourne. Silk and ribbon weaving took over the street in the late 18th century and it has been a conservation area since 1992.

Coventry University is about a mile by road from our Lower Stoke house, Humber Hub. University Hospital Coventry is about 2 miles by road from our Upper Stoke house, Sullivan Heights.
