Rowley Regis is in Sandwell. In 1933 it became a borough that took in Blackheath, Old Hill and Cradley Heath. It is the home of the Rowley Hills, famed for Rowley Rag stone, which was quarried on an industrial scale for about 200 years until the last quarry closed in 2008.

Rowley Regis railway station opened in 1867 and is still in use. The parish church, completed in 1923, is dedicated to St Giles and St Michael.

Coal was mined at the Ramrod, Rowley Hall and Bell End collieries, all closed by 1920. The combined Rowley Regis wards had 50,257 residents at the 2011 census.

Since 1 April 1974 Rowley Regis has been one of the six towns of the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, with Oldbury, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. Sandwell had 309,000 residents at the 2011 census.

The station, opened by the Great Western Railway, was known as Rowley Regis & Blackheath until 1968. On weekdays West Midlands Railway trains run about every 15 minutes between Kidderminster and Birmingham Snow Hill via Stourbridge Junction.
