Quinton is a residential area about five miles west of Birmingham city centre. The M5 forms its western boundary down to junction 3 and separates it from Halesowen. The A456 Quinton Expressway links it to the motorway before continuing as Hagley Road West towards the city centre.

Formerly part of Halesowen parish, Quinton became part of Birmingham in 1909 and was farmland until the first housing estates of the 1930s. The top of the spire of Christ Church is the highest point of any building in Birmingham.

Quinton had 21,377 residents at the 2021 census and is almost entirely residential, with small local service businesses. Its northern side borders Brandhall in Sandwell.

Woodgate Valley Country Park, on the Bartley Green and Quinton side of Birmingham, was set up in 1984 and covers 450 acres along the Bourn Brook. It is the third largest of Birmingham's country parks after Sutton Park and the Lickey Hills. Woodgate Valley Urban Farm is run as a charity.

A parkrun has been held in Woodgate Valley Country Park since August 2021 and bus route 23 stops near the main entrance.

More than 80 species of bird and 250 species of plants have been recorded in the park. The disused Lapal Tunnel of the Dudley No 2 Canal passes just south of Hole Farm.

Harborne lies to the east of Quinton, towards Edgbaston and the city centre.

Its urban farm is a self-supporting private charitable company.
